Kangaroo Island day 3
Last night as we slept itwas very winding with bouts of heavy rain. We both saw small branches dropping off trees from the comfort of our warm toasty bed through the back of our campervan window this morning. Brian went for a walk after his shower however couldn’t find any wildlife. I guess the koalas were hiding in lower branches of trees elsewhere.
Rain and cold weather forecasted for the rest of the day.
Today we’re planning a more relaxing day. First stop a visit to de Tong Ling Stupa temple founded by a Tibetan monk. A 30 minutes drive..we turned down Ocean Drive heading towards Cape Borda. It was weird seeing very barren lands for the first couple of miles then polar trees out of the blue.
The Temple was deserted and very beautiful. We had breakfast overlooking a dam outside with a Buddha in the centre despite the cold wind. Next stop Cape Borda lighthouse. Quite a short building which I found unusual. Apparently, because it is 150m above sea-level. We endured a very bumpy, rattly
Dirt track road to get there..often single lane as the road is being renovated. Many potholes and sludgy due to wet conditions. Again we were alone. It had a lovely peaceful feel. A few cottages close by.
We went in search of our campsite on a similar dirt track road which no longer existed. We saw a kangaroo skeleton on the side of the road. A small one jumped in front of us which fortunately made it safely to the other side. Beverley has spent a lot of time sending love and light to many dead roadside animals for a safe ascension. On a very positive note we saw 2 magnificent eagles, 1 of them landed in a field close to us. Shortly afterwards we saw another. We chatted to a ranger and he said they live in the area. He confirmed our campsite didn’t exist…so off we went to Stokes Bay, an uncovered site next to the beach. We had a short walk up the hill pre sunset and watched a solo surgery one side and on the other side of the cliff top were 2 younger teenagers on paddle boards.
