The Sculpture Trail

19th August 2022

We had been told about an interesting Sculpture Trail up near Lake Dunn which sounded interesting, so headed in that direction. The trail started in Aramac.

On the way we stopped at Ilfracombe. An interesting machinery mile walk.

Onto Aramac. The free campsite was hosted by the pub. A few sculptures of cows and bulls around the town. Swimming pool closed. Found out later that the lady who runs it is on maternity leave. She runs the tourist information office also. Nobody to replace her.

Happy hour at the local which was fun. The barmaid was selling raffle tickets for meat trays and she was winding everyone up. The locals were all getting excited about the horse race the following day. They were leaving at 11am. Last year they were gone for 8 hours with plenty of drinking. Why not?.. good Ozzie culture.

We started the Sculpture Trail the next morning. Its a 3 sided triangle drive, each side about 65km, with about 10-15 sculptures on each side that you have to look out for. Good fun. We even “found Wally”. Lake Dunn was at the apex of the triangle. We thought about staying there, but it was too crowded, and the energy wasn’t good.

Beverley was happy to stop and spend time in the “Healing Circle”. A healing circle of rocks which are connected to 7 other circles around the world. Very Powerful.

We did 2 of the 3 sides of the triangle, and headed off to Jerico and camped by the river.
