Penola to Robe
24th May 2022
We have left Coonawarra the wine country . Had so much fun had so much fun yesterday visiting Wynns and Holick cellar doors for a wine tasting.
Our campsite was in the heart of the town of Penola.
Very quiet and lines by Poplar trees close to where we parked.
From miles and miles of vineyards to fields full of sheep and tiny new born lambs and later cows. Miles and miles of paddocks and wheat fields.
We stopped at the Naracoorte Caves. A World Heritage listed site. We had a Tour of Alexandria cave with Des. She has worked there for nearly 30 years. The history of the caves is fascinating with stories of animals dropping through holes and dying in the caves because they can’t get out. There are Deacon University students researching there. One found a connection to another cave. The Stick and tomato cave
Drive to the small quaint town of Naracoorte and stopped for some provisioning, before driving to Robe, on the coast.
Stayed at lakeside campsite 33$ per night ?
