Victor Harbor
Our morning started with rays of sunshine shining through the clouds and a flock of Galas and cockatoos noisily flying as a group between the trees. A wonder to see.
Beverley met a happy, chatty cleaner called Kaye in the shower building. It is so important to love what you do. The energy can be felt by all.
We then headed to Victor Harbor for breakfast overlooking the port followed by a stroll around the beautiful seaside town. Very colourful with a true holiday atmosphere. Large hotels with big gardens which are full of tourists in the summer months. We stopped in at the tourist information who didn’t give us much information on what to do there and kept recommending Port Elliot, however Brian gathered some pamphlets.
We went for a walk around town. They have a horse drawn tram to take you across the river to the island. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been in operation for awhile. We walked across the new bridge. There were 2 teams of construction workers dismantling sections of the old bridge and another team of supervisors watching from the new bridge. It reminded us of a time in Israel when we had our Catamaran lifted… more supervisors than workers all giving different instructions…so you can imagine the chaos.
The walk around the island was spectacular. Great 360 degree views from the top. Lovely Australian shrubs and vibrant big rocks covered with yellow or orange moss.
We then drove to the other side of the port and walked up the hill for more spectacular views of the coastline. It reminded us of Southern down in South Wales, rugged cliffs kissing the ocean bed.
We checked into the town caravan park an easy walk for happy hour later at the anchorage. It was really cold so great to go to the cozy bar.
