The Great Ocean Road

19th – 20th May 2022

Today Brian was greeted by a beautiful duck at his feet whilst having his morning coffee.

As we drove away we saw a beautiful kangaroo in the forest who just stared at us.

We re-joined the Ocean Road and stopped for a cup of tea and coffee overlooking the River Wye.. magnificent views of the roaring surf and spray, some waves resembling seahorses with long manes. We continued on to Apollo Bay.. a very picturesque town with shops on the right-hand side and a beautiful park on the left next to the golf course.

We continued around the Bay to the old fishing port and seafood restaurant with a packed terrace.

We went for a drive to the end of Cape Otway, but unfortunately the lighthouse was shut, so we could not get to the lighthouse or the views.

We continued on and end up in Princeton, when we for a cheap campground next to an old cricket ground, which is run by the local community. A nice area and the cricket ground fills up with kangaroos every afternoon.

We stayed here for 2 nights and did a day trip down to the 12 Apostles, The Loch Ard Gourge, and the Grotto.

Forgot to say that it is bloody cold down here.

Amazing scenery. Such a rugged coast. The waves are just relentless.
