The Outback Highway
30th July 2022
A day for a drive up the Outback Highway from Copley to Marree.
We went to Leigh Creek to top up with fuel first. It was a big coal mining town back in the days. Not much happening there these days.
We stopped in Farina to look at the ruins of the old town. A busy town back when camels and horses were the main forms of transport, but died after the wars.
Marree is the town at the crossroads of the Birdsville Track and the Oodnadatta track. The Ghan railway used to pass through here many moons ago, and it is also famous for camel races and Tom Kruse the mailman.
